“Silhouettes are some of my favorite images,” stated award-winning outdoor photographer Mike Gnatkowski. “They tell a story, portray a scenario; they provide a vision of things to come or a synopsis of a result of an outing without giving all the details.”

“Silhouettes tease and tantalize leaving a lot to the viewer’s imagination,” Gnatkowski added. “They highlight brilliant orange sunrises and the faintest pinkish blush of a setting sun, yet the burst of color is in stark contrast to the darkened shadow of the subject. Because silhouette images are taken during the “magic hour,” they potent or allude to a promising day to come or they capture in a single image the successes of a great day afield.”
